Opera singer turned sleuth-maker—with a flair for secrets and suspense.
Everyone Has a Secret...
That’s what Vicki Shelton believes—and it’s a belief that fuels every mystery she writes.
Before becoming an author, Vicki followed a career path as fascinating and unexpected as the plot twists in her books.
She holds two Master’s Degrees in Music and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership. Her academic journey led to fourteen years of university teaching—including seven years as Chair of the Music Department at Gonzaga University.
But music wasn’t just a job—it was a calling.
Vicki even auditioned to sing opera overseas and was selected to perform in a prestigious Austrian opera house.
Her time on stage honed her sense of drama, emotion, and timing—all of which now appear on the page instead of in performance halls.
From Opera Houses to Estate Planning
After returning to the U.S., Vicki’s next chapter brought her into the financial services world. There, she developed and presented original seminars on topics like:
- Raising Money-Wise Heirs
- Emotionomics (a term she coined herself)
- Charitable Giving Strategies in Estate Planning
Her ability to break down complex ideas into compelling stories made her a sought-after speaker—and that storytelling instinct would soon find a new outlet: writing murder mysteries.
A New Passion: Writing Mysteries
These days, Vicki is happily glued to her laptop, crafting the Biodina d’Angelo Mysteries—a twisty, layered series featuring a nosy amateur sleuth with a knack for uncovering secrets people would kill to protect.
Much like Biodina, Vicki knows that even the most ordinary people hide extraordinary secrets—and sometimes, those secrets end up in her books.
She’s completed three novels in the series so far, with more on the way.
Life in the Northwest
Vicki and her husband make their home in Naches, Washington, a quiet spot that inspires the rich settings in her stories. Their household also includes two loyal companions:
- Jackson the husky
- Daisy the German shepherd
When she’s not writing, you might find her gardening, reading mystery novels, or brainstorming new plot twists—possibly while sipping coffee and watching the dogs chase squirrels.
